stop by city hall in alhambra this month to see a new selection of my original watercolors on display. some are offered for sale.  city hall is located at 111 south 1st street, alhambra, california, 91801 and is open weekdays from 8am-5pm.

i am happy to announce that i've been featured in a new post from the tikiaddicts!  i was happy to meet sarah and randall - the tiki addicts - when they stopped by my booth at don the beachcombers last month. these two are such a cool couple with great energy and a really cool website in which they are beginning to chronicle their tiki related adventures.  i am beyond humbled that they'd choose to write about me!  it's a fun post with some beautiful pictures i saw sarah snapping as well as some other tiki people and tiki things they recently encountered.  go take a look and follow along - tikiaddicts.org - i will be!

i was recently asked to create a new tap handle design for my friends over at ohana brewing company in alhambra.  we settled on a design i'm really happy with and production is underway.  ohana's beer is served at some great craft brew houses around los angeles - keep an eye out for this little guy in the lineup at your favorite bar.

new products

in preparation for a couple holiday sales this year (one at the tonga hut's tiki wonderland on december 7 and one at the disney animation studios' internal craft fair) I added a new version of my smiling tiki mask - this one with a carved backboard.  

restless native art show - walt disney animation studios

i was recently allowed the opportunity to put up my first solo art show in the halls of the walt disney animation studios where i work.  the folks at the animation research library engages the artist population in order to put up personal art shows from time to time.  for this show, i put together 26 pieces - mostly watercolor and woodcarving - all in a retro tiki / tropical theme.  

it's always a bit nerve wracking to put out your art for others to see, a bit more so when the venue is one that has you surrounded by some of the most talented artists in the world - and artists that you admire so much.  but i have to say, i am pretty happy with how it all came together.  a big thanks to leon and julia at the arl for helping me put it together!

come out to gallery nucleus this saturday for a great collection of art in and around the universe of the hit show 'the big bang theory'.  opens at 7pm.  i'll be there!

a mainstay of southern californian tiki culture, the tonga hut is celebrating 55 years in the valley this month.  i am very excited to announce that i will be among the vendors in attendance for this celebration!  i'll have a number of tiki products to offer - some of the items currently available on my etsy site and some brand new items.  please mark your calendars and come join the fun!
